How To Draw Animated Fire
How to Draw A Cartoon Fire filled with fun effects
Drawing a cartoon fire: some fun facts before starting sketching!
- In the US, more than 1 million fires were reported to the authorities in only one year!
- Fires are causing several billion dollars in damage each year in the US.
Step 1
In this tutorial, I will show you how to draw a nice fire. Even if flames are irregular and unpredictable, there is still some similarities between all fires. Looking at the image on the left, we can see that the bottom of the fire is yellow/white (3) while the top is more orange/red (1). Also look for some spark (2) and unusual shapes within the fire (4).
Step 2
The shape of the fire is made mostly of lines. Not drawing any lines at the bottom gives the impression that the fire is really burning something on the ground. This drawing is a cold representation of the image above so it lacks the aggressivity and the style you should give to your original creation.
Step 3
If you feel more secure doing so, you can start your lesson by sketching an oval to have an idea of the shape of your fire. Then, add more irregular lines to form the outline of your drawing.
Remember to keep the bottom of your fire larger and circular. Add some colors to complete your masterpiece (yellow and orange are the most popular ones) and blur your fire to give it more impact.
Step 4
A simple fire (1) should be easy to draw if you practice a little bit. You can also go for more complex flames (4), logo-style (3) or realistic (2). If you can put your hands on more images of different fires burning various objects, you should have a good idea of how to draw fire in no time!
